Nasi Lemak Ong

Ask around Alor Setar for the best nasi kandar in town, and the locals will probably direct you to Nasi Lemak Ong.
(Fun fact: Nasi Kandar is actually called Nasi Lemak in Alor Setar).

The founder, Mr Ong Kee Tea, learned to cook the dish from a veteran Indian-Muslim chef. Soon after, he decided to open up a business, and the rest is history.

Aspiring to keep their father's legacy alive, his sons, the Ong brothers, have now expanded to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, bringing with them their father’s 20-year-old experience into making authentic Malaysian curries. A strong advocate of health, Mr Ong does not use coconut milk in them while keeping things thick
and spicy.

These closely guarded recipes are a mix of Chinese, Indian and Malay styled curries, a reflection of their diverse customers. To pair them with is the ginger infused yellow-hued rice, a unique Kedahan-styled nasi kandar from Alor Setar.

If you're looking for more than curries, choose from an array of Star Dishes that tickle your fancy. Sizzling hot Fried Crabs, as well as tender and juicy Grilled Giant Prawns, will go down well with seafood fans. For those who can take the heat, the Fried Catfish and Sambal Belacan is a must.

**Nasi Lemak Ong is a pork-free establishment and all ingredients used are Halal certified.
