Following the success of building the tallest Christmas tree in Asia in 2015, Swarovski announced another First in the world – the World\u2019s First Swarovski Crystallised Merry-Go-Round at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia\u2019s premier shopping destination.<\/p>\n

The sparkling event, held at Pavilion KL\u2019s Centre Court, saw invited guests and mall patrons feast their eyes on the stunning crystallised two-tiered Merry-Go-Round for the very first time. Friends of Swarovski, Neelofa and Venice Min were also there to grace the event, alongside other local celebrities Debbie Goh, Elaine Daly, Joanne Yew, Lynn Lim and Thanuja Ananthan. The recently crowned Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2016 Serene Lim and the other seven finalists were also present to celebrate the evening.<\/p>\n

The event began with an alluring opening performance led by renowned Malaysian dance sensation, Suhaili Micheline, showcasing Swarovski\u2019s 2016 Holiday Collection, followed by the lighting ceremony by Mr. Aymeric Lacroix, Managing Director of Swarovski\u2019s Consumer Goods Business (CGB), Southeast Asia, Dato\u2019 Joyce Yap, CEO of Retail, Pavilion KL and special guest Godfrey Gao, famous Taiwanese-born Canadian actor and international supermodel.<\/p>\n

The Merry-Go-Round is inspired by the captivating ambience of Swarovski Crystal World in Austria, through a spirit of discovery and a constant quest for innovation; which is the unique heritage that makes Swarovski recognisable. The evening was made extra special as the Swarovski Crystallised Merry-Go-Round is recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records. Mr Christopher Wong, CEO of the MBR was present to award the recognition certificate to the guests of honour. The guests of honour and invited celebrities were the first few people who were called upon to take the first ride.<\/p>\n

The monumental nine-metre tall Merry-Go-Round is decorated with 3,000,000 pieces of multi-faceted illuminating crystals and accents of gold and blue, key colour elements of Swarovski\u2019s 2016 Holiday Campaign. The dazzling jewellery piece for Christmas \u2013 Fantastic collection and snowflakes ornaments are also key motifs adorning the Merry-Go-Round. The Merry-Go-Round weighs nearly four tonnes and is fully functional with ten horses, two sleighs and one carriage on board. Every element on the Merry-Go-Round was carefully designed and built with precision to fit the technical specifications to ensure the safety of every ride.<\/p>\n

With this scintillating Merry-go-round, Swarovski brings an enchanted world of glittering decorations, magical crystals and brilliant dreams for the public and tourists alike to savour the poetry of Christmas. In collaboration with Pavilion KL, the Swarovski Crystallised Merry-Go-Round will be located at the Centre Court from now until January 1, 2017. Each ride from the Swarovski Merry-Go-Round is priced at RM10 and part of the proceeds will be donated to Charity at Heart, Pavilion KL\u2019s CSR initiative. Swarovski will also be selling 300 sets of the Flicker Pierced Earrings exclusively at the Pavilion KL boutique, priced at RM150 and all proceeds will also be donated to the same initiative.<\/p>\n

Merry-Go-Round Technical Specifications:<\/p>\n

1. Inspired by Swarovski crystal world in Austria and enhanced by the 2016 Christmas theme \u2013 Merry Crystal, Blue boxes, Gold Balloons.<\/p>\n

2. Stylishly embellished with 100 pieces of crystallised Vega down light.<\/p>\n

3. More than 3 million Swarovski crystals being used. 50% goes to merry-go-round base itself, covered by tempered glass with LED lighting for maximum sparkling effect.<\/p>\n

4. 2 x Fully Crystallised Sleigh with Swarovski Tube Handles.<\/p>\n

5. Body of the Sleigh is Blue base and crystallised with more than 500pcs Swarovski square blue crystals 30mm (Crystal Bermuda Blue 001 BBL).<\/p>\n

6. The merry-go-round weighs 4.3 tonnes, external structure 2.3 tonnes and crystals on the base itself weigh 500kgs.<\/p>\n

Merry-Go-Round Designers<\/p>\n

DTwelve Studio is a multi-disciplinary practice under the direction of Jesy and Mellisa, the company draws on the foundations and design principles that have been developed over the years of practice. The work of DTwelve is driven by the principles of authenticity, consideration and enthusiasm. The studio\u2019s approach is to create a unique identity for each project and this authenticity resonates not only in the design solution but in the selection of a natural palette of materials and the sharing of knowledge with craftsmen.<\/p>\n
