Our story starts with our founder, William Penhaligon. A humble Cornish barber who rose to the Royal Court, and trimmed the Shah of Persia’s beard. The year is 1870.

William’s first perfume was Hammam Bouquet, inspired by the Turkish Baths where he was resident barber. The fragrance was exotic. It was exciting. It caused quite a stir. Mayfair’s bright young things clamoured for more, and more they received. A slew of fabulous fragrances followed.

Finnish design house Marimekko opens a new store in Kuala Lumpur on 21 April 2025. Located at the prestigious Pavilion shopping center, the new dynamic store marks the 4th Marimekko store in Malaysia. The Marimekko store in Pavilion is the first store in the Southeast Asia region that was designed according to Marimekko’s new and modular store concept.

The visual identity of Marimekko’s updated store concept embodies Marimekko’s optimistic and creative lifestyle philosophy with its modular and experiential design. The store interior references distinct elements from Marimekko’s own textile printing factory in Helsinki, Finland, and acts as the perfect backdrop for Marimekko’s bold and colorful designs ranging from ready-to-wear, bags & accessories and home products.

“The new experiential retail concept is quintessentially a reflection of Marimekko’s design thinking, inviting participation and engagement through experience and bold yet functional design elements. With this new store, our aim is to inspire both new and existing customers with engaging visual activations and events taking place throughout the year. Marimekko’s updated store concept has been designed with long-lasting materials, such as timber and metal. All the materials in the store are either recyclable or reusable and have been locally sourced.
