Mulberry – Made to Last Manifesto
May 6, 2026
Our Purpose
Born in Somerset in 1971, Mulberry is an iconic lifestyle brand with a playful and uniquely British blend of creativity, community, craft and culture. Our commitment to modern British craftsmanship has always underpinned both our creative and commercial strategies, and today our two Somerset factories are the manifestation of our purpose. We are a significant local employer firmly rooted in the community. We are building a climate-resilient supply chain, responsibly sourcing materials with a specific focus on lowering the impact of leather. We are exemplifying how circularity can be baked into business culture, with a dedicated repair and restoration team, a thriving resale proposition, The Mulberry Exchange. We are a bastion of craft and innovation with a well-established apprenticeship programme that ensures skills are honed and handed on.
These we believe are the fundamentals of a business that is Made to Last.
The Three Cs
We believe that a sustainability strategy, just like a business strategy, is an ever-evolving work in progress. The following sections detail the Three Cs – the guiding principles of our sustainability journey – with each outlining Mulberry’s ambitions and progress made.
1.Climate
The climate crisis is not a distant threat – it’s unfolding now. At Mulberry, we’re determined to be part of the solution. We’re working toward net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035, covering both our direct and indirect operations. Our near-term targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Leather is central to our product story, with bovine leather featured in over 90% of our products. Hence, in terms of leather sourcing, we’re cultivating direct relationships with farmers who work with nature to restore soil health, improve livestock welfare, and mitigate climate impacts.
This regenerative approach to leather reflects our sourcing philosophy across all categories – we partner only with suppliers who share our vision for a circular and regenerative luxury industry.
2. Circularity
Our Lifetime Service Centre has been rejuvenating thousands of well-loved bags for over 40 years.
We know that our customers cherish, keep, and care for their Mulberry bags, and we support their commitment by offering accessible artisanal repair services. The team within our Lifetime Service Centre are masters of restoration, breathing new life into thousands of pre-loved Mulberry pieces every year.
Mulberry bags are designed to lead many lives, so in 2020 we launched The Mulberry Exchange, our resale platform through which customers can trade in their existing Mulberry bags for credit towards a new purchase.
3.Community
Our roots may be Somerset, but our branches are far reaching – upholding and celebrating the diverse influences and international connections that inspire our creativity.
We strive for a culture inside and outside our business where generosity, good humour, and respect for each other – as well as the world around us – drive all our decisions. It’s a culture in which the wellbeing of our people, our partners, and our customers is prioritised and valued. As the largest manufacturer of leather goods in the United Kingdom, Mulberry embodies modern British craft. We are committed to developing and growing the expertise and capacity we have established in the UK, and connecting this to a regenerative British supply chain.

In recognition of our purpose-driven approach, in 2024 we achieved B Corp Certification, joining a global community of like-minded organisations seeking to work with transparency and with accountability.
B Corp is a rigorous assessment of every part of our business against five key Impact Areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers, and certification shows that we’re meeting high standards in these areas.
