Malaysia’s premier shopping destination, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, was honoured with the Gold Award for its exceptional ‘The Pride of Malaysia’ campaign celebrating acclaimed actress Michelle Yeoh, the first Oscar-winning Malaysian to celebrate her victory with the mall. In a historic first-time win, DA MEN USJ received the coveted Platinum Award for its record-breaking ‘Beats of Prosperity’ 2023 Chinese New Year campaign.
Pavilion KL emerged as the Gold Winner in Category C – encompassing malls with a net lettable area of 1,000,000 square feet and above – at the Awards Gala Dinner held at One World Hotel on Wednesday, 6 September.
The mall’s ‘The Pride of Malaysia’ campaign, featuring Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, dazzled Malaysia with an Oscars viewing party on 13 March, where people witnessed the film Everything Everywhere All at Once make history with seven wins, and a Homecoming FanMeet for the Best Actress winner. Thousands of fans attended the Homecoming FanMeet, while millions tuned in to a livestream on 18 April. Both events garnered global and local headlines, trended on social media and achieved an astonishing 10,000% return on investment.
DA MEN USJ won the top Platinum Award for Category A – malls with a net lettable area of 500,000 square feet and below – for its thunderous ‘Beats of Prosperity’ celebration for Chinese New Year 2023. The campaign showcased the outstanding power and artistic finesse of oriental drumming, securing a coveted place in the Malaysia Book of Records for ‘The Most Seasonal Drums in a CNY Theme Decoration.’ With this campaign, the Subang Jaya neighbourhood mall attracted community leaders and participants from various age groups and ethnic backgrounds, fostering a deeper understanding of the art of drumming.
Pavilion KL has accumulated an impressive tally of 53 local and international accolades since its opening in 2007, and has been recognised for its creative campaigns at Malaysia Shopping Malls Association (PPK) Best Experiential Marketing Awards for five consecutive years.
Organised by the Malaysia Shopping Malls Association, the Best Experiential Marketing Awards recognises the nation’s most innovative shopping centres for outstanding achievement in experiential marketing. This year’s Awards accepted submissions based on the malls’ marketing programs held from 1 August 2022 to 31 July 2023. A total of 29 finalists were shortlisted for this year, with three winners in each category (Platinum, Gold and Silver), as well as a Judges’ Choice Award.
